Paralympic Swimming One of the blue-ribands sports, swimming has been part of the Paralympic Games since Rome 1960, the first edition. Swimmers use four strokes and in Rio there are 151 medals events for men, women and mixed relay teams.
Thanks for sharing all of this information about the swimming events at the Paralympic Games. I am fascinated by this particular sport. I think that the athletes are incredible. I can't imagine how hard it must have been for them to train for a swimming event without the full use of both arms and legs. I think that they are quite brave!
I will certainly aim to watch the footage of the Paralympic swimming events from Rio in September. I am especially keen to watch Sophie Pascoe compete. She is a very talented Paralympic swimmer who won 10 Paralympic medals over the past two games - 6 gold medals and 4 silver medals. Amazing 'eh?!
Keep up the great work, Newsam. It's wonderful to see you online sharing your learning with the rest of us. Awesome!
