School Athletics!

School Athletics

The sun was shining, birds were chirping and today was Wednesday 23rd November 2016 which was our School Athletics Day and I was really hyped up.

I took part in 100m  sprint, shot put,  relay, discus and high  jump.

My best event was high jump because when I jumped over the bar it looked like I was flying and I came 1st.

I came first in 100 metre sprint and high jump.

I tried my best in  shot put, discus and  relay but unfortunately i did not do well.

It was an exhausting day!!

It is a type of measurement that  is between 0 to 10.

School Stereotypes-Stonefields

Glenbrae Heroes-Glenbrae

Make an Effort-Stonefields

The Stereotype was funny because it had laughter, singing and riddles.

Glenbrae Heroes had confidence and patience because it had students who were stuck and they never gave up on their learning.

Finally Make an Effort. There were people who were learning how to pronounce Maori words and how to split the words up.

Our Healthy Shared Lunch

Shared Lunch

On Thursday 20th October 2016 all of the Glenbrae students, teachers and teacher aids went to the hall to have shared lunch because our topic for this term was focusing on eating healthy. Room 10 made a delicious pumpkin soup. The pumpkin soup had potatoes and little bit of onions. Some classes made tasty veggie wraps, Rainbow salad and beautiful sandwiches. Everybody got to taste every food from each class. I felt really grateful because I got to try every food and helped teachers to cook our tasty pumpkin soup. I felt really healthy.

I feel happy because I learnt different words and 

I have learnt different stories and answered interesting questions which was on the test.

Alien Invasion

Alien Invasion

There was a little girl named Grace and her older brother named Eldon. They lived on a farm with animals like cows, pigs, horses and different kinds of animals.

One night when they had finished their dinner which was butter chicken  it was time for Grace and Eldon to go to bed. When they went to sleep Grace was still awake just looking at the stars and the moon. While she was looking at the sky, she heard a big crash from the barn. Grace went to go and check the barn if it was okay and then she saw a really enormous  alien spaceship and Grace said, “ That’s impossible and I thought that aliens don’t exist.” I guess that aliens do exist? Well let’s see. Eldon woke up and saw Grace outside and guess what? Eldon suddenly faded because he saw a  the alien spaceship in the barn.

The next morning Eldon and Grace went to go tell their parents and the parents said, “ I don’t believe why an alien spaceship should be on top of our roof with the animals inside the barn. ”

Grace said, “ we are going to prove to you that aliens are real.” Then Grace and Eldon went inside the alien spaceship and they saw a little baby alien sleeping. They quietly carried the alien baby and then the  alien baby woke up and started saying, “ mama! ” Eldon said to the baby,  “ I am not your mum and you are lost on earth little boy. ”  When they took the alien baby to the parents the parents were shocked.  After that they couldn't go to school because they had to help the alien get back to his planet. Grace and Eldon checked the spaceship and the spaceship was broken. The antenna  was bent and the the wheel on the left was broken. The baby alien got an idea. The alien got an old hanger and an old little wheel toy. When they fixed the parts with old junk, they checked if it was working and guess what? The alien spaceship was working and the baby alien was happy.

The alien went to his planet safe and sound.

Grace and Eldon waved bye to the baby alien and the baby alien dropped a letter that said, “ thank you for helping me fix my spaceship. ” Grace and Eldon smiled with happiness.

Title: Finding Friday...

Today I read about finding Friday which was finding object to earn points.

I feel happy about what I read today because Mr Rainbow gave a question and to use strategies to solves mathematics problem.

My favourite character was Mr Rainbow because he gives really fun and exciting challenges for the students to do.

I would feel happy if the same thing that happened to my character, happened to me because I my class and I will complete the challenge and just have fun with our cool activities for an hour.

I think if the author decided to write another part to this story this is what will happen They got a really cool trophy and have fun.

Today we learnt that:

• Ultra Violet radiation, or the UV radiation that comes from the sun, can burn and damage your skin.

• UV radiation causes sunburn and wrinkles, and ages our skin or makes it look old.

• UV radiation can cause our skin cells to change and make skin cancer cells.

Science Intensive

Today in room 9 the students o room 10 were learning about light. We were learning about how a rainbow is made. Here is the image of my diagram about how a rainbow is made.

Science Intensive

Yesterday room 10 students went to room 8 to do science intensive.

So first of all our teacher in room 8 was Mr Nath. We were learning about electricity. We first had to be in groups are we had papers and felt tips on our desks. The groups had to write down what if New Zealand had no electricity and with no power. My group had a lot of ideas about losing power in New Zealand. Each group went to each table and got to look at people's ideas they have written. Later on We went on our netbooks and we were reading ideas about electricity. We had a activity and we had to write down the answers that we have been reading and write it down to fill the questions. Finally we had make a light bulb turn on. It was really hard to connect all the wires to the light bulb holder. Our light turned on and it was really simple. Then we went back to our class and told our teacher what we have learnt about electricity.

I feel happy because my group had a lot of ideas and worked out how to turn on the light bulb.

Today I read about a little boy's dad who is a performer and he is famous.

I feel happy about what I read today because the dad teaches the little boy some of his tricks.

My favourite character was dad because he has cool tricks and performs in every show.

I would feel happy if the same thing that happened to my character, happened to me because I will have money cool tricks and become very famous.

I think if the author decided to write another part to this is what will happen if the little boy becomes famous like his dad.

Today room 10 went to room 8 to do science intensive. Our teacher was Mr Nath. We were learning about " Electricity." This is the picture of the light going on by using wires and a battery. Here is the image of my simple light bulb!!!!

Kiwi Can

Last Friday we went to room 11 to do kiwi can. Our theme was resilience and our topic was perseverance.

After that we had to guess what greeting was from a country. The greeting was form Russia. We did a energise called target zone. The game was that we had to be in teams and throw the hoop into the cone. My team won for the energiser " target zone." Mr Numia and Miss Tuia told us some question about being patient. There were different kinds of good ideas about being patient. We did our activity called "flip the mat." The boys won for the activity. We finally got into our points. I can't believe that  we got 25/25.

I feel happy because we had 25/25 and I feel happy for the boys who won the activity.

Isaac Newton's 3 laws of motion/movement

I understand about law #1 is that the force is something that has been pushed, hold and different kinds of things.

• Wind

You can’t move the car on the floor because it’s bumpy and it is called friction.

You can move the car on the table because it’s smooth.

Law #1 helps you save your life and why? Because if you get crash you will crash and go out the window, but the force is you seatbelt and the airbag to protect your face.

Law #1 put your seatbelt on!

Law #2 The heavier the force is the bigger the force you need.

Isaac Newton was born in England and his birthday is on december 25 1643. He lived for 85 years. At college he got interested in math, physics and astronomy. Newton had new ideas about motion, which he called it the 3 laws of motion. Newton’s new ideas were so good that the Queen Anne knighted him 1705. Sir Isaac Newton died in 1727. He was raised by his grandmother.
