Netball

Netball was first played in England in 1895. In 1995, netball became a recognised Olympic sport.

Sport: Netball

Rule 1: You cannot run with the ball. You can only bounce the ball to your teammate once.

Rule 2: If the ball is knocked out of your hands and you make an attempt to try and get it back, you can only bounce the ball once to get it. If you bounce more than once, then it is called "replay ball".

Aim: Remember to always look before passing the ball. If you're not careful with your passes then there could be a slight chance of your opponents team winning.

  1. Hi Newsam,

You are absolutely right, netball did become a recognised sport in 1995 but, sadly, it is not played at the Olympics. That's really too bad, isn't it? I would love to watch it played by athletes from around the world. I am quite sure that the New Zealand team would do really well if they were able to play in the Olympics. What do you think? Would they win the gold medal?

I hope so! Keep up the great work, Newsam. There are 7 more days left in the Winter Learning Journey so you have lots of time to log on, blog and earn tons of points!

Keep up the great work :)

    Rachel
