Argument writing - Do teachers really need to strike?

Paragraph about teacher strike -

"Supplies are important to the teachers. These supplies could help them finish tasks on time including their students. Supplies are very useful to those who really need it. We need more useful supplies like Chromebooks, books, sports gear, and other learning supplies that could help us reach a good level of circumstances. "

This is one of the paragraphs from an argument writing I wrote about a teacher's strike. This is one of my best paragraphs that I wrote and it also is true.

I hope you enjoy :)))

Holiday Activity

Young Women Activity

On the second week of the holidays, my Young womens and I had planned a activity together. We went to the Botanical gardens to do a photo shoot. We took tons of pictures with our partners, classes and our individual photos. Our pictures looked amazing and the effects on the pictures were just making us look more beautiful.

Soon after, we went to the museum to have a look around. As we entered into the museum, we went into the women exhibition and it showed many women and stories back then. Looking around the room made me emotional, because it tells us how many women are slaves and how they got paid less back in the days. Also many women were assaulted or they were assaulters. Next we went to a cultural exhibition where we find many special things from our ancestors and who they were. We walked into this lab filled with special weapons from my own country, Samoa. We saw many weapons that were created with coconut fibre, coconut trees and tiger shark teeth. This was so amazing to see many things from my own country that I didn’t even know about.

Later on, we went to the swimming pools to have fun together. Even though many of us didn’t swim, we still had fun and we ate A LOT of food. We played many games in the pool and had races with each other. We kept coming out of the pool and kept switching pools everytime. This pools was great fun.

After that, we all went to Mrs Tofa’s house to prepare dinner for our parents who were coming over and created our movie about what we did today. We all gathered around with our parents and opened ourselves with a prayer. Each young women shared what they enjoyed and why they were special. It was one of the best days during my holiday.

The World

The world

We live in a world filled with beautiful nature
Blessed with living creatures.
It’s an adventure for us to discover,
this round earth with beautiful flowers
Feel free to do whatever you want
Endless opportunities filled with sun
Our world reunites
like birds singing all day and night
We can all be ordinary
With the sun’s rays
Making our planet extraordinary
HAHAHAHA the sound of laughter
as Venus and Mars
Wishes for living creatures.

Information Report about Neptune

Neptune

Neptune is the furthest planet away from the sun and also known as the coldest planet. Neptune was ruled by a Greek God, the god of sea, Poseidon. It is also known as the densest giant planet, because it is more dense than all the rocky planets.

Urbain Le Verrier is a French mathematician who discovered the planet, Neptune. He predicted the existence about Neptune by using mathematics. As for Urbain Le Verrier, it took him 66 years to calculate and study about Neptune. Urbain Le Verrier had the honor to share the discovery of Neptune with a British mathematician named John Couch Adams. He believed that he was the first person to discover Neptune along with a man named Johann Gottfried Galle.

Neptune has 14 moons around it. One of those are known to be the largest moon around Neptune, that moon is called Triton. It is the first Neptunian moon to be discovered in 10 October 1846 by an astronomer named William Lassell. It orbits on the opposite of it’s planets rotation. Triton is thought as a dwarf planet captured by the kuiper belt which is a Trans-neptunian region. Triton has a surface made out of a frozen nitrogen, water ice crust, an icy mantle and lastly a core of rock and metal.

Neptune is the coldest planet in our solar system, because it is the furthest planet away from the sun, the sun doesn’t give heat to Neptune. Neptune is so far away from the sun which makes it cold. Neptune’s temperature is -214 Degree Celsius and that it can also have very huge storms with extremely strong wind. It’s known for its strangest weather in the solar system.

Neptune is the planet furthest from the sun and the sun doesn’t give heat to Neptune so that’s what makes Neptune cold. Urbain Le Verrier is a French mathematician and discovered Neptune by using maths.

Cooking Argument Writing

Why we should have a cooking class in the Glenbrae hall

Cooking is a activity when someone uses food and kitchenware to create a eatable  dish. In my true opinion, we should create a cooking class in school, because students should learn how to make and understand simple recipes. Students from Glenbrae should have the opportunity to learn and create what cooking is about, and what it can do to help our ideas in cooking.

Is it helpful to have a cooking class? Well, I will truly agree because students could gain more skills in cooking. It will be good for us so that we could have more knowledge from things we get taught in cooking class. It will be grateful if we could have the time to cook different things every, single day.

If we had a cooking class we could be begin to like food we didn’t like before. If each class comes out feeling happy or relieved, that means to me that they are having the ability to know more and that they have learnt something throughout the session. This is good for the school, especially the classes because it can cause us to feel like we want to create recipes of our own which could be very great.

Cooking is helpful for when you are a adult and need to make breakfast, lunch and dinner for someone or yourself. Knowing how to cook is a crucial part in life which everyone needs to know. Without knowing how to cook could leave you eating unhealthy microwave food. This is good for us to be into what could help us in life.

If we did cook at school, we would also learn more about safety awareness. Having safety advices is a good thing to have when we’re cooking, because it could help us feel more safer and having the protection from our staff members. These could make you not burn the kitchen or break some equipments. We should have these reminded to the students or have a list of safety advices for us to always remember when we’re cooking with peers.

These are my opinions on why we should have cooking in school. These could actually help us to develop our talents in cooking and it could help us learn different things we don’t know about cooking. Having cooking in school or in our life is helping our knowledge grow more by learning and having the ability to know what cooking is. So that is why we should have cooking in school.

They walk among us

They walk among us

Mark and Jennie finally were on there way back from the concert filled with gratification and excitement that was held at Mt Smart. They didn’t want to take the long way home so they went through the dark and gloomy alley which would be easier for them to reach home.“The walk to the alley will be fifteen to twenty minutes” Mark said. Jennies eyes lit up shocked of how many minutes it would take.

After two minutes they were still walking and the worse thing for them was that it was VERY misty. They heard some little footsteps coming towards them. They were frightened. Jennie didn’t know what to do while Mark was running around like psycho. The footsteps were getting louder and louder! They were running like crazy until they were lost and didn’t know where they were. “Where are we?” said Jennie. “Well it looks like were are lost Jennie!” Mark replied. They were trying to find their way out, but didn’t have a plan to find their way back home.

A few seconds later, Mark saw another alley which had lights on and made a path way which lead them to two people. They started walking and they realized that the other two mysterious people were also walking. “That is kind of terrifying with those two walking when we walk, don’t you think?” Mark said. Jennie just stood there, she didn’t even say a word, but kept staring. The more they walked forward, the closer they could get to the mysterious people.

Until a few inches close, they could see that they were wearing mask that covered their faces. “Hello!” Jennie yelled. The two figures were just standing there not even a single word coming out of their mouths. Mark was starting to get shivers going down his spine while Jennie was just smiling like nothing is happening. Suddenly Mark said. “May you please reveal your faces for us to see?”. As always, they were just standing until someone spoke. “Hello my dear friends, what are you guys doing here in this dark alley?”. No one replied. Mark started to run for his life and all of a sudden, one of the mysterious people started chasing after him. “Help me!” Mark cried.

This one mysterious person kept staring at Jennie and soon Jennie started running for her life. While she was running she stopped right in front of her neighbourhood. She was relieved that she made it back to her hometown when she heard running behind her. She turned around, but she didn’t know who that person was until she finally saw Mark’s face. Mark was running for his life and then started running with Jennie.
“I found you Jennie!” Mark said.

Soon they saw that the two mysterious people were catching up to them. They were very fast at running and the fact that they looked like they just finished coming out of the gym. Jennie and Mark soon made it to the house huffing and puffing.
“Wow, what a horrible night” Jennie said. When the door open to reveal their mother who just woke up from her sleep.
“Where have you been all night?” yelled mum. Jennie started to explain about what happen during the night while Mark was just agreeing to what Jennie said.

“O, hello!” mum said. They turned their heads to see who mom was talking to and it revealed the two mysterious people. They were getting frightened and Mark was about to scream until they revealed their faces. “JACKSON! LISA!” yelled Mark and Jennie.
“Surprise friend” replied Jackson and Lisa. Their faces were just blank and didn’t have anything to say. “ Why would you scare us like that?!” shouted Mark. “Don’t you know what day it is today?” replied Lisa. Still didn’t know what to say and they were getting more confused. “Oh, HAPPY HALLOWEEN KIDS!” mom yelled. Jennie was so confused until she checked her phone to see what day it was today. It was the 31 October which means it was Halloween.

“We are so stupid Jennie” Mark said. “So that’s why everyone was wearing witch costumes and also fair costumes to the concert” replied Jennie. Mum told them to come inside to eat a special cake that mum has decorated. Everyone looked at each other in a weird way. Jennie gave that how did you plan this look to Jackson and Lisa. Lisa started to explain everything until they understood why they were scaring them to death. “Time to go to bed kids!” mum said. They all went upstairs and separate different ways until they made their destination.
“Happy Halloween!” they said.

Manaiakalani Film Festival 2016

Manaiakalani Film Festival 2016

My top 3 favourite movies were:

School Stereotypes-Stonefields
Glenbrae Heroes-Glenbrae
Make an Effort-Stonefields

The Stereotype was funny because it had laughter, singing and riddles.

Glenbrae Heroes had confidence and patience because it had students who were stuck and they never gave up on their learning.

Finally Make an Effort. There were people who were learning how to pronounce Maori words and how to split the words up.

Our Healthy Shared Lunch

Shared Lunch

On Thursday 20th October 2016 all of the Glenbrae students, teachers and teacher aids went to the hall to have shared lunch because our topic for this term was focusing on eating healthy. Room 10 made a delicious pumpkin soup. The pumpkin soup had potatoes and little bit of onions. Some classes made tasty veggie wraps, Rainbow salad and beautiful sandwiches. Everybody got to taste every food from each class. I felt really grateful because I got to try every food and helped teachers to cook our tasty pumpkin soup. I felt really healthy.

How were mummies were made!

This is my explanation about how mummies were made
ENJOY!
We had to found some complex Interrupter, zig zag sentences, AAAWWUBBIS and FANBOYS.

How Mummies were made

After death, the Egyptians believed there was an afterlife.  Because a body would be needed to enter the afterlife, the Egyptians mummified the dead body.

Firstly the body was placed on a table.  The embalmer removed the internal organs, (apart from the heart), with a steel hook through the nose.

After the body was emptied, linen was placed inside the body to suck up the moisture.  Then the body was covered with salt and left for forty days to remove any leftover moisture.  After forty days the linen was removed from the inside of the body, and sawdust and spices were inserted.  The sawdust and spices,(expensive and hard to get), were required to help keep the body’s shape.

Next it was time to wrap the body.  The head and neck were wrapped first with white linen and then the rest of the body parts.  Finally a spell book was placed in the hands of the dead body.

The final resting place of the mummy was in a tomb. Because the mummifying process was very expensive, only the very wealthy were able to do it.

My writing recount!

A special time with my family!

On Saturday last  year there was a birthday party at panmure. My family and I were relaxing for a bit in the car having some positive conversation and playing together because we want to just stay together before we go and play with our amazing, beautiful cousins.

Shortly afterwards my family and I went inside, But guess what we saw? A lot of colourful decorations with fake cars and a huge notebook to write a birthday note and in the inside it was really huge.We saw people and little sweet kids. My siblings and I went to the bouncy castle while my parents watch us smiling  to us very sweet to us. Moments later there was heaps of balloons so my siblings and I went and got it really quickly. After that this beautiful music came up, but it was a remix by DJ Noiz. Later I saw a really gigantic cake with a big picture on top of it, but it was the birthday boy’s picture, it was really sweet and amazing. Next there was a race coming up for the little children that over 3 to 6 years old.  After that some little children won the race. So the adults told us to sing happy birthday to the birthday boy and when we were done the adults gave us two packets of lollies that are very sweet and sour.

I felt very koa (which is maori for happy) because I got to relax to with my family and have some positive conversations and I got to go one the bouncy castle and watch the little kids race.

This is my Rubric.
